SPIE Student Chapter at Ivan Franko Lviv National University was approved by SPIE during Defense And Security meeting!

 

SPIE Student Chapter at Ivan Franko Lviv National University was approved by SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering in March 2005. SPIE Student Chapter at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is based in the Faculty of Electronics, Department of Physical and Biomedical Electronics under the advising of Olexander Bilyi, Ph.D., Head of Laboratory of Optoelectronical Devices.

Currently the Chapter consolidates 20 members, both undergraduate and graduate students of the University.

The main goal of the Chapter is promoting academic and scientific activities in the field of optics and photonics in the University. Special attention is paid to biomedical and diagnostic applications of light.

Main scientific interests of our members include:

  • Study of programmed cell death by means of forward and side light scattering analysis.
  • Study of conductivity effects in thin (<10 nm) films.
  • Study and analysis of absorption spectra of biological fluids.

2005 Officers: President – Rostyslav Bilyy, Vice-president – Serhiy Tabachyn, Secretary - Petro Bihun, Treasurer - Ivanna Yarynovska.
